NEW hose stinks!

So I'm finally ready to replace the hoses to the head. I've done a lot of work to get to this point including spending about 45 minutes on the phone with Miss Peggy. I bought the recommended hoses from Trident but when I opened the box it smelled almost as bad as the old hose. It's a manufacturing smell, not a head smell, obviously but it's still objectionable. I didn't go to all this trouble to end up with a boat that smells again. Has anyone run into this and how did you solve the problem? I called Trident. They seemed surprised and the only recommendation they could make was to wash it with soap and water and lay it out in the sun.

Thanks

You bought the white Trident 102, didn't you? It's something in the chemistry of the white "skin" that outgasses when the hose is new...how much seems to vary. I didn't think to mention it to you because it had been so long since I'd heard from anyone who'd experienced it that I forgot about it.

It doesn't last long, but it is objectionable while it does. It should dissipate faster if you put it outside the sunshine and fresh air for several days instead of storing it in an enclosed space. Washing it off with soap and water first may also help.

I used white trident 102 when I replaced hoses last year. The new hose smell goes away after a while and the nasty smell goes away also. Win win.
