I am replacing the holding tank in my 1991 Hunter 30T. I followed your recommendation and purchased a Ronco tank (B131) and Snake River acu-gauges. Thanks also to Roy Mosteller for his info. I had two 3/4 inch vent fittings installed on top of the tank with the intention to install two vent lines to provide for cross flow through the tank. I just had a brain wave to use one of the fittings as a flushing port piped via an isolating valve to my washdown pump to occasionally flush out the tank with clean water where it is legal to do so. The other fitting would be used as a normal single vent. Any thoughts on this setup? Thanks. Fred.

2 Vents are better than one?

Fred Why not leave both your new vent fittings and use the pump-out for washing the inside of the tank? Seems to me that with everything Peggie's written, more vents are better. Stu

Sounds like a great idea to me, Fred

As long as the single vent can be short and straight (especially straight), and not rise more than 45 degrees, one should work just fine. Maybe we ought to discuss that. If tank location dictates the need for two, adding another port to connect the washdown pump is a piece of cake using a Uniseal.

30T Holding Tank

Fred - Thanks for the plug and I am pleased my info was helpful. To 30T Owners - If you are thinking of replacing the original aluminum holding tank you might contact me through the owner's directory and I can send pictures and instructions on how I successfully replaced my tank. Not an easy job since there are two tie down screws that require removal that you can not see nor reach.
