New Hinges on Engine Access

Has anyone else done this? Replaced the
hinges on the engine access doors. Put
them on the sides instead of the bottom.
Now they swing out of the way and you
don't have to put your weight on them,
and they don't fall open. Used magnetic
catches. Works great. I love this!

a great idea. i've always wondered who cooked up our 'please step on me' doors and tin foil hinges.

I just took off the hinges and made wood cleats at the bottom then reuse old catches or replace catch if dead. Hatches are never in the way now.
