Seems as though the pump housing is cracked on my 82Oday 34. Ive not been able to locate a compatible replacement and am considering replacing the whole head. I could use some insight from someone who has done this already on an Oday 34 or 35. What model/ brand has a compatible footprint? Is the footprint universal like it is in residential plumbing?

I've done this. I replaced mine with the Raritan PH II and it fits just fine on the footprint of the old one. I needed to drill new holes of course but the fit is good, except that the height is a couple of inches higher. Not a problem if you're tall, but if you're short (like my wife) or have kids, their feet will dangle. I resolved this by building a raised floor grate that fits inside the footprint of the floor pan. I even went a step further and created a section of the floor grate that lifts up and creates a platform for your feet. We call it the "Pooper proper", for proper pooping.

jp,

You didn't mention what head you currently have, but that's kinda immaterial anyway.

There are basically two choices, as there have been for years:

1. A cheaper Jabsco, which would have to be replaced or built every year or two

2. A quality Raritan. They make 3 models: PHII full size, PHC with the c for compact pump and base, and LBA which is just the pump and you reuse your existing bowl.

The Raritans are available from the store on this website, pretty good pricing, too.

The bolts are LAG bolts, NO nuts underneath.

Here's what we did on our boat:

Good luck.

Replaced in kind

When I bought my ODay 31 last year, I found the toilet cracked and leaking. Talk about a stinkin mess! First I vacuumed everything out including the hoses. It was not easy to do but I succeeded. I replaced the head in kind with a Groco cast bronze model. I also replaced all hoses(waste and vent) and the loop vent. It was costly but these materials and several bottles of Febreeze were well worth it.

Yup, mahogany. It was a fun little project and dresses up the head quite a bit.
