I'm getting ready to replace the leaking cockpit drain hose. Being 6'3", I'd like to limit the number of trips below. Can anyone tell me the hose diameter? It looks to be 1 1/4 - 1 1/2". I'll try to use an automotive hose if I can find one. In addition, I'll make sure the lower rudder mount is sealed. Thanks for your help.

Drain pipes are all same size?

Glad to see another H23 owner! I haven't had a problem back there, so I haven't looked. But, I would think the chain/anchor locker, sink drain and self-bailer would all have the same diameter. Anybody?

Cockpit drain hose

I think 1 1/2 inch but I won't be positive until this weekend. I bought the same hose I found and had to remove the wire to get it on. If I had to do it again I would find something more flexible. I cut mine 2 1/2 inches long. If I cut another one it will be 3 inches long. I'll post again after this weekend.

Replacement Drain Hose

I have the old anchor locker hose and some leftover from the replacement I bought this summer. It is DEFINITELY 1.25" diameter - just went out to the shop and measured it. Like Neo said - doubtless Hunter used the same size leading to all through hulls. I bought marine grade stuff at West and got criticized for spending 2x what I would have at the plumbing department at Home Depot.

Hey Mike,

I would have done the same! When I need something for the boat, I go to the boat store, vise vers for the house. And I'm a carpenter, you'd think I would know better. Did you get the boat out alright? Hope so. Lake Arthur was absolutly beautifull the last few days we had. Took the boat out on saturday, so sad!

Late Season on Erie

Hi George - we had been holding out for one last opportunity to sail, but weather and schedules have gotten in the way. We ventured out Saturday but turned around without raising sail due to rough waves and fairly heavy wind straight out of the north - just didn't feel comfortable. Sunday was ideal, and never fails, I had another commitment. We had a great season, though, overall. Mast is supposed to come down late afternoon today, boat gets hauled tomnorrow. I'll bet Moraine was gorgeous this past weekend. We miss Lake Arthur but can't beat being 10 minutes from our dock, compared to 2 hours away. Here's to an early Spring! - Mike

Fixed!

Cockpit drain hose in fine condition. Clamp was not tight??? Tightened hose clamp and no more leak. BTW -- ID of the hose is 1 1/2". Thanks for the help.

So much for the "all the same size theory." I'm surprised, but glad you reported back, Jerry.
