Hi Richard,
Honestly I must admit that I've never sailed a Maxi 77, but I've met
quite few. And know people who owned one.
+ Sails slightly better than the Vega. Will go higher against wind.
+ 5:th berth, though very tight
- Less space onboard in general
- Rarely has flushing head (I hate the porta-potti, no offense)
- Likely to lack inboard engine
- Not quite as robust a construction, more known osmosis
In Sweden, where I live, the Maxi 77 is very popular and is often
compared head-to-head with the Vega. Comfort-Vega, Sailing-Maxi 77.
