New FX Sail Sliders Broke

[Milwaukee Protocol]

Was sailing in 15-20mph winds and had 3 sliders brake. Has anyone had this happen or any insight other than quality of sail?

Sail slides these days are a bit cheap, get the ones with a stainless steel bale in them. If it was made incorrectly, and there was uneven pull, individual slides can fail.

Could you tell exactly when they broke? Did they break on a gybe, or...?

Thanks. It was a pretty hard gybe and some good winds, but nothing out of the ordinary.

I've had the full plastic ones break on a couple of fairly innocuous gybes myself, but attributed it to age and Arizona sunshine.
With your's being "new", hmmm, well, I could have been wrong about that.

I have since made sure that new, steel-bailed spares are aboard, and am very mindful of that boom.
