I have a quote for a new foresail for my H336 which shows th following figures.
I = 13.11 J = 3.51 LL = 12.75 LP = 140%
These are in metres but I am wondering how they compare to the original specification for the boat.
I'm not sure that the current sail is 140%.
Any information gratefully received.

Can't help you with the answer if the original sail on the 336 is a 140 and I don't know how much you do know about sails measurement but as a former handicapper here is some info that might help you.

Looking at the specs of the 336 here on the site (under Boat info), we find the following in feet and inches and I've given you the equivalent in meters:

I : 43' = 13.11m
J : 11' 6" = 3.51m
P : 43' 7" = 13.28m
E : 15' = 4.57m

You give us the LP as 140%. The LP stands for Luff Perpendicular and is the distance from the luff of the headsail to the clew taken at 90° from the luff (see attached diagram). It should be expressed in feet (or meters). Ask your sail maker to give you that measurement. If it's a 140% then it should be 4,91m ( J * 1.40)

The percentage as used to refer to a sail is the actual ratio of LP/J. For convenience, sailors refer to the various headsails as per that percentage.

Hopefully 336 owners will chime in with the info regarding the original sail or you might try to contact Hunter themselves. Good luck

Thanks for that.
I would think the current sail is less than 140% but if things are calm next weekend I may do some measuring.
Your drawing and explanation helped a lot.
