My floor got wet last season (really wet - 1" of standing water from a rain storm - before I got my canvas hatch covers). Anyway - I've got some plywood delamination on the floor. I'm looking into replacing it with a new floor from Hunter. My question is - what to finish it with. The original 26 & 260 used Seafin (or Profin) teak oil. My inclination is to use three or four coats of CETOL. Any thoughts from any of you? Regards, Tom Grass Grasshopper II H-26 #174 Lake Carlyle, Illinois (St. Louis)

Why use teak

If you are replacing the floor why not change to a new product. I think it is called plasDECK. I is being used on all the up scale boats for a deck. It is almost indistructable and no maintenance. It is also not slippery if it gets wet. If I still had my H26 I would have replaced with this stuff. At the last boat show I ask a manufacturer how difficult it was to install and he install a section right infront of me. Easy to install easy to clean and less time to care for. I was sold but then I had a chance to sell and sold the boat and moved up to a H30. Carl

I used Watco oil

I just cut a new floor from teak and holly plywood and am using Watco oil to seal it. Watco soaks in and if you keep coating the floor, drying 48 hours in between coats and sanding lightly with steel wool, the oil will oxidize on the surface and harden to a brilliant shine. The beauty of this is, if it is scratched, you only need to re-oil the scratch and it's good-as-new. I used this on my tiller, too.
