So what are people planning to do? The CT River is still flooded and strong currents and debris are stopping me from moving my beloved boat to winter storage. Now there is the threat of Wilma being sucked into New England. Anyone started thinking about a Hurricain Haul? Challenging the River? Things are very complicated this year... A penny for your thoughts. Eric

Been thinking about a Hurricane Haul a lot

lately. Watching that sucker Wilma closely. I'm glad I'm not hauled yet though. Had a great last sail today. Crystal clear, flat water, few boats, great wind, great golden hour after. :) Forget about the Ct river. You'll be smashed to bits. The weather for the next week isn't gonna help either. Eric, why don't you winter in Mystic?

What to do

The quick answer is that I have a very inexpensive winter storage rate in Old Saybrook. The marina also stores my trailer at no extra charge during the summer. So it ias a financial thing. Normally I enjoy October the most for sailing, and don't mind the longer sail to haul out but this year is an anomally (sp). You are right about the river. I called the marina just today, and they said that they were busy all the time towing large debris away from the slips only to have more junk drift in. I am hoping for a better weekend next week. Take care, Eric
