I just picked up a new (slightly used) suzki 4stroke for my 25.5. It came from a different boat so I need to put the correct power plug on the cable. Any advice on where to get the parts and best techniques are welcome. Second question, my Hunter has an external fuel tank that I have to haul out the storage bin a place in the cockpit. Has anyone ever just run a fuel line from the tank left in the bin (under the cockpit seat, drilled a hole through the back direct to the outboard?

You might need to add some ventilation into the storage locker.

Running fuel Hose

I have a H25 and C25 both with the fuel hose run through the transom to the motor. Make sure you put some type of grommet on the holw through the transom to eliminate chafe on the fuel line. (Even a small amount of caulk is adequate to keep the line off the fiberglass.) Never had any problems with either boat. Just make sure you give the line plenty of room for slack when the motor is turned.

Bad Gases

Timothy, I wouldn't recommend running the boat with the fuel tank in the locker. I don't know about the Suzuki, but the tank for the Evinrude on my 25.5 must be vented for proper fuel flow. The cockpit locker is not well sealed from the cabin and any fuel fumes will gravitate to the living room! I once left my fuel tank in the locker without closing the vent screw and when I next opened the boat there was a strong gas smell in the cabin. IMHO its best to leave the tank in the fresh air. No Problem

Tim I have moved my tank to the locker I drilled a 2" hole through the aft side of the locker and ran the fuel ball through to the moter. I have not experenced any fuel smells at all. I do open the locker when we board the boat to clear out any vapors. Cliff

I'm set up that way

Tim: When I purchased my 25.5 last year, the fuel line was led through the transom on the port side (presumably to avoid any interference with the rudder) to the aft quarterberth and then to the Starboard cockpit locker. I have never had problems with fumes, but the point is well taken that care should be given so that the fuel line does not abrade where it passes through the transom. My kerosene tank for the Force 10 cabin heater is also located there. I did experience a leak with that, and it did pass through to the cabin quickly. The short of it is that it can be done, but make sure it is done well. Scott
