I just purchased an O'Day34 and bought a new Xantrex charger and invertor to upgrade the electrical. I want to install the charger and inverter under the cockpit hatch in the engine compartment.Its not to close to the diesel. Does anyone know if there are any problems with the heat or ventilation, when installed there.

I am not comfortable with your idea. I suggest that charger should be away from engine compartment, as maybe under settees. May have to buy some longer heavy gauage wire, but potential for spark or heat away from engine.

Last year I installed a new Battery Charger on my 34. I positioned it in the quarterbirth, on the engine room bulkhead forward of the access panel next to the companionway. It is out of the way, has excellent ventilation and good access to the batteries and electricals.

Thanks Chris P, I agree, I like the idea of locating it in the quarterberth, that keeps it out of the engine room but conveniently located near the batteries. I am thinking of mounting the inverter in the cabin on the bulkhead to the right of the shore power panel, this also would provided for convenient wiring. Any thoughts are appreciated.
