Although I am not privy to much anymore, I heard there is a possibility of a new keel 26 or 27 along the line of a Capri 22 that may incorporate a lifting ring for hoistin on and off a trailer with sail drive for motor propolusion.

I'm in the market as were . Colonial Beach
Interesting. I wonder what they are trying to market the boat to, the racing crowd or the trailer sailor? I guess with it being a Capri they are shooting for the racing crowd.

Unlikely. J/boats and Melges have this market all but locked up. Modern small boat racing is all one-design, and Catalina does not have the resources or the will to create a competitive one design fleet in the face of the J/70 and j/80.

Now it COULD be a sporty 27 footer, to compete against the likes of the new Beneteau First 25s. That could be a neat boat.

IMHO, sail drive is yet another BAD idea.

It's a BIG hole in the bottom of a boat that requires VERY periodic maintenance compared to a traditional stuffing box or even a PSS shaft seal.

Easy for the builders, heck on wheels for the boat owner.

Yuck.

Your boat, your choice.
