New Catalina 22 Owner Aboard

Just registered in. Bought my 1973 Catalina 22 about a month ago, cleaned it up and sailed it for the first time last Saturday. I't a wonderful boat and makes a beginner look like he knows what he is doing. I've posted some pictures and will be posting more as time goes on. I'm also registered with the Compac Yacht Owners website as I just sold my Compac 16 to buy this Catalina. The past year and a half has probably ben the greatest adventure of my life. And it's just beginning.

C22 cruises

There's a couple of cruises you all might want to consider coming up next year. First one, in May the NGCC starts at Fort Walton Beach Fl sails to Alabama then back to FWB. The second, on KY Lake starts at Lighthouse Landing at the dam, sails to Paris Landing then back. Both are hosted by Fleet 77 and are Catalina 22 cruises.

I would do this if it is at the end of May. Both my wife I and finish our school year on May 27th. I looked and in years past it took place in the middle of May.

Edit to add, I found Fleet 77's website 7-14. It looked like something we would love to do. Hmmm that was 2010 dates.

The Kentucky Lake date looks good.

The KY Lake cruise is the second week in June. The NGCC is almost always the week of Mothers day, on average 20 Catalina 22 attend. Certainly one for the bucket list.

Looked at the pics on your album of the cruises, very nice. What city does the Ky Lake cruise start from?

It's Paris Landing State Park on state highway 79 west of Dover,Tennessee. There is a wonderful marina, a campground, and a state run inn. Nice place.

Sorry, I thought you were referring to the pics of my sails around Kentucky Lake this summer in the Compac. That sail in June from the dam to Paris Landing sounds interesting.

Congrats rwdr!! I just acquired my Cat 22 this past August and I agree with you regarding how easy they sail. I just love mine. Many wonderful trips to ya!

I hope and trust you will enjoy your C-22 as much as I have mine. I bought mine about 22 years ago and it is one of the best uses of hard earned money I have made in my lifetime.

It never gets old! I bought my C22 in 1985 and can't believe how long I have had her. If you trailer and want to join an enthusiast organization, check out http://www.trailersailors.org/ which I found before we had a website (or computer) when I thought there should be a group for trailering sailors like myself and was happy to discover the T/SA.
