Oday 272 Placida
I am considering installing a new starboard bulkhead to attach to the existing chainplates. The existing bulkhead has some rot & water damage. The boat is in the water-- can I do this project with the mast up?? I have two (2) spare halyards- mainsail and spinnaker-- will these hold the mast up during the repair process when there will be no chainplate support?? Also- has anyone tackled this type of project (new bulkhead) with the Oday 272?? thanks

loose chainplate

I have a 272 le with the same problem. When the boat came out of the water a few weeks ago, the marina noticed that that the chainplate was loose and the wood it was attached to was rotted. We found someone to repair it for around $600. They are doing it while the boat is out of the water for winter storage. I don't know how difficult it would be to do it in the water. I keep my boat in Cape Cod (Chatham) Hope you enjoy your boat as much as I do.
