I'm purchasing a new 331 and I'm trying to decide if I should install the bimini and air conditioner unit myself or have the dealer do it. The dealer's cost is $4400 for the AC and $1995 for the bimini. The material cost for each is less then half that and both look like very straight forward jobs. I'm I missing anything.......... Thanks for he help

Really depends on your inclination and abilities

Hi Ron - Both jobs are very different, but if you have the inclination (and it sounds like you do), you will undoubtedly learn some skills and understand your boat better if you do the work yourself. There are several canvas books out there that can help with the bimini. As for the AC, it would be best to get some advice from someone that has installed the same system, preferably in a similar boat. Alternatively, see if you can hire someone to work with you, so you get experience and are assured a professional job. Do your homework, save some money and have fun! Let us know how it turns out... I'd let them do it

I have a 331 with both the items you mentioned. I would have the AC put in at the factory. It is a much cleaner installation because they can install it while the boat is being built. It could be a real hassle for the dealer, and he may not be able to do as good a job. You could go either way with the Bimini, but I would save myself the aggravation and just have the dealer do it.

Worth A Shot

I bought my 361 at Newport Boat Show and the package included the Dodger and Bimini at no extra charge. The dealer had a local Canvas shop do the work. Suggest you talk to your dealer about a deal. I had AC/heat installed at factory and it has worked well and is very neat.

LET THE DEALER DO IT

LET THE DEALER DO BUT TRY TO BUY ONE ALREADY INSTALLED BY THE FACTORY. I LOVE MY BIMINI AND DODGER INSTALLED AT FACTORY. ALSO GET CONECTER PANEL THAT CONNECTS THE TWO TOGETHER. ITS WELL WORTH THE EXTRA FEW DOLLARS ON A RAINY NIGHT.DON'T FORGET THE PEDISTAL COVER ALSO. I PURCHASED BOAT SHOW DEMO AND GOT MANY EXTRAS. WHERE ARE YOU BUYING BOAT. JOE NEWELL B331 HULL 245
