Good Morning Everyone, My wife and I are the proud owners of a new 2001 C36 hull #1971. I'm interested to find out what is generally done to Celebrate the boat naming and launch for the first time. The boat's name will be "Beau Jouet" , Beautiful Toy in french. Thanks in advance for your comments. Regards, Chris Hyland

Champagne

I don't think you're required to sacrifice a virgin anymore but Neptune does like his booze. You're supposed to buy two bottles of champagne, one very expensive & one el cheapo (Cook's would be very appropriate!). Crack the GOOD bottle on the bow (or just pour it on/over) and drink the cheaper one. This is to show Neptune how much beneath him you are. Actually, one of my favorite books is The Ocean Almanac. It is a "compendium" of ocean related stuff & I seem to recall a detailed ceremony in there. It a fantastic book all around so well worth the money. Congrats! LaDonna

Royalty

I am still thinking Royalty. There is nothing like having a Queen or other monarch around to crack the expensive bottle over the bow. Hmm... now who could you get? Who would be considered royalty in Rhody? :O) hmmm ... maybe the owner of One Pelham :O) or the Black Pearl. The head of the Yachting museum? Someone to show Neptune you rate. The head of the Navy War College. Someone Neptune will respect. Just a thought. :O) Fair winds and following seas.
