I have to replace the batteries on my 78. They have already been moved to below the nav station and are in series. Any thoughts on type of battery I should be using. I want to stay away from the gels they are a little too pricey for me right now. Thanks in advance!

I recommend 2 trojan T-1275 12 volt golf cart batteries if they fit.

You might consider 2 golf cart 6v batteries. I replaced 2 Group 24 'dual purpose' batteries (previous owner install) having about 140 AH rating with two 230 AH 6v in series. The GC2's have the same footprint but are slightly taller. There is plenty of room under the chart table on my '84 Cat 30. RC has a very good write-up on 'deep cycle' batteries that should be required reading.
