Hi, This ODay daysailor is the first boat I've owned since the late 80's when I had a Hunter 33. I purchased a 1980 Daysailer and the line to the centerboard is holding on by a thread. I wish I had a manual or specs on the boat. The line disappears into a hole in the storage area and it's holding on by a thread. I'd like to know how to install a new line. The sails are original and I think they'll have to do for another year at least. Do you know of any spray that would stiffen the sails ???? Thanks, Suky

repairing the downhaul

If the line is hanging on by a thread, it is likely the downhaul not the uphaul. The downhaul is a fibre line whereas the uphaul is wire. The replacement is relatively easy. One end of the line is embedded into the cb where you can reacch it from under the boat, with the cb up. Gouge out where it is embedded, with a screwdriver, epoxy in a new line, tape it or sew it to the old line and pull it up and through, rerigging it as in the diagram on my website. Send me your email address to roger02@mb.sympatico.ca and I will send you a copy of a portion of a chapter on replacement of this line in more detail. I'm in the process of writing a manual of the most common repairs on this boat, and will likely have it burned onto a cd making it available for a small fee, once finished. I've attached a link to my website and pictures that may be of assistance to you, especially the cb rigging scheme. There are four pages of pictures with discriptions of what you are looking at.
