New Anchor Recommendations/Experiences

Beneteau Oceanis 43 Midland
We are new to a beautiful Beneteau Oceanis 43', 2008. We will be cruising on the Great Lakes, Canadian side mostly.
The current anchor seems light and we'd like to have a second anchor.
The light displacement is 19,560lbs. I have not done a loaded displacement as of yet.
I am looking at a Rocna anchor, considering either the 20kg or the 25kg. Using the Rocna "fitment guide" we seem to be sitting between the 2 of them. I'd rather be over than under for the size....however, I am not sure about the fit of the larger Rocna anchor on the current anchor roller.
Anyone out there have experience with this specific anchor on this boat?
Anyone have first hand experience with fitting the 25kg anchor on the stock anchor roller on this specific boat.
I am likely asking for a lot of specific detail, but thought I'd give it a shot.
Help...

Last season I bought a Vulcan anchor, made by the same company making the Rocna. Although the company says the Vulcan is mainly for powerboats that can't use a Rocna, I found the features of the Vulcan more appealing. No issues so far.

On my 2005 423 I put the 25kg and it fits fine. Similar displacement and hold boat great so far….. also have 250 chain

We put a 20KG Rocna on our 356 and it's fantastic; always sets and holds even in bad bottoms here in Maine

It depends upon the bottom of where you sail. In Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia, it is mostly mud, so a claw or CQR works well.

My previous boat, an Island Packet 35 weighed 17,000 pounds and we used a 35 pound CQR. Worked fine, but like I said, depends upon the holding ground. This one was an all chain rode.

Our Beneteau 331, at 11,173 pounds, uses a 30 pound Bruce - no issues. Part chain and then nylon rode.

I have never used these newer anchors, so cannot comment!

Hope this helps.

On my 35 ft 15000 lb boat, I use a Mantus Marine 35lb Galvanized Steel anchor. We anchor in varied conditions from pebbles, to sticky clay, depending on the anchorage. So far it has held in winds upto 50 knots with no drag. We danced a bit but stayed securely in one place. Anchor came up with a lot of mud so it looked to me that the geometry of the anchor worked.

Rocna for sure and go a size up. We replaced a cqr with a rocna and have spent a few sleepless nights stood at the wheel waiting to react but the rocna has (to date ) held firm. We have a 20 on a bene 343.

45LB Mantus m1 I just put on my Beneteau 343. Have not used it yet (“hey you scratched my anchor!”) so just showing this picture for fit. mantus recommendations run larger than other anchor manufacturers and my boat was on the bubble so I got the larger size. when I got it I was concerned it would not fit but it fits fine. I am going to be happy I got the larger one, trying it out next week.
