Here is what I would recommend: To save yourself a major headache recheck the LED signal this way. After the unit has set at rest for at least five minutes watch the LED while someone turns the unit on after the first false start. Count the LED flashes as they may be different after the second false start. Unlike your automobile this troubleshooting chip has only one stored memory that can be masked by a three flash overload on a repeat start attempt. I have seen this before when there is a low battery or a boat wiring problem. In that case the first signal is a single flash and a four second pause before the second flash or in case of an overload four flashes. If the unit was purchased from West Marine or a major store call their store manager or their main office, WAECO’s Answer is not expectable. You will probably never be happy with that unit the complete system should be returned for a new one. If there is a true overload condition it would be caused by, A liquid line blockage, Contaminated or excessive refrigerant. If there were a mechanical problem in compressor it would fail to accelerate to control speed giving a four Flash signal. With the unit not running you could let out some refrigerant for one second then turn on the power. If it does not run turn off power and repeat a one second bleed. Repeat this process four times or until the compressor will run OK. If you have been able to get the compressor to run the correct amount of pure refrigerant is indicated by the frost line. A correctly serviced unit will have frost covering over 100% of the evaporator and no frost returning to compressor. http://www.kollmann-marine.com
