I am very interested in purchasing a new 450 in the Spring. I would like some advice from recent buyers as to base prices. I don't think some of the dealers I have been talking to are taking me serious based on the numbers I've been given. Any info on base boat and genset/A.c. costs would be greatly appreciated. Mark

Leftovers and boat shows

Don't know 450 pricing as I have a 380, but I've noticed the best deals are always are boat show time, or on leftover model boats. For instance my dealer on Cape Cod has a beautiful 460 still for sale with the next model year about to arrive, you know they want to move that boat to make space for the 2001. You know how the salesman always says hey what's it gonna take to get you into this boat/car/house today? Well figure out a reasonable price, that you an afford then hit em with it and walk when they don't come around. Just do it nicely, and with serious intent, and they'll come down. We love our boats, but to the saleman it just a means to a paycheck, it's chattle and nothing more. If he thinks you'll really buy, they'll negotiate. Remember though they aren't in business to give it away, a fair profit is needed to sustain business, and make sure they are there when you need them for waranty service. Best of Luck Bob Knott H380

Boat Show

Am taking deliver of a new 420 in October that I ordered from Norton's (the only Hunter dealer in Va.)in May (at Hunter's Spring Boat show). Was going to buy a 450, but for $50k less, I think the 420 is a better buy. Check them both out at the Annopolis Boat show in Oct. There are quite a few used 450's for sale on the East Coast, but no (or almost no) 42's or 420's. Does that tell you something. Boat show packages include gen sets, A/C, etc. Apparently, it's a seller's market right now, (for the dealers). I am told that Hunter is backed up on production.

It is a sellers market

That's what I hear. I suspect you won't find big discounts at the boat shows this year but you will find good deals on option packages. Typically, the price of a boat decreases in proportion with the time its been sitting at a dealer's dock.
