Waayyy too much work!

How many hours Morrie? I had all of that cabinetry out when I did my anchor locker with hawse pipe and windlass. I put it back just the way I found it. Even that was difficult! I think I will just hang some of those net baskets. It looks like you completely cut out the front end of the v-berth platform where the chain goes down. Did you reinforce that somehow? Because that was structural in my mind I just ran my hawse pipe through that platform. Does your chain go to the bottom without help?

It was a lot of work but it sure is nice to watch movies. The screen is only 17" but it looks like a big screen TV in that small space. It's hard to say how much, I did a little every weekend for six months or so. There was certainly some structural value in that bottom to the chain locker but putting in the new anchor locker more than made up for it. I did have an engineer friend look at it and he said he didn't even need to run any calcs. Just seeing that I replaced what I took out by at least four times was enough. I covered the back of the anchor locker with three layers of glass and about ten coats of epoxy. With that platform out the chain just falls way down under the front of the v-berth and has enough room to pile up. All 300 feet of 3/8" chain goes down with no help. Hey, I'm going to be near Port Huron in a couple of weeks. I grew up near Toledo and I'm going to visit my dad east of Toledo and my son in Cleveland. Is your boat in a slip? I thought about bringing my dad down to so he can get an idea of the size of my boat. We're going to be working on a boat project in his machine shop while I'm there.

Hunter Rendezvous

I agree, a locker that beefy would more than compensate. I might have to do that unless I can find a way to get the chain to slide to the bottom. But 300' of chain! Your boat must sit funny on her lines. :) It would be great to see you Morrie. As you can see I am in Huron, about 300 yards off of Route 6 and right behind the Ford dealership. I am on the river, straight out from the 'Rak' shed(Related Link). I will be about three to the left of that powerboat on the end, slip #6. Next weekend(Aug. 6-8) is the Lake Erie Hunter Rendezvous. It is right here in the Huron Boat Basin. I have to miss it but will be around otherwise. Write for my phone numbers: h37skipper@juno.com
