New to the web site and posted on ask an Oday owner instead of bigger boats. I have a 1983 28. Any help or thoughts appreciated. If anyone has recovered the cabin cushions, how many yards of material did it take??? Thanks, maxxx

Max:
I own a 1980 28 OD and you'll find it to be a very roomy comfortable family cruiser. Not an off-shore boat but as a coastal cruiser she's a beaut! If you click on the "boat info" tab on the home page you can go to the 28 (not the 280) and see lots of pictures of other 28's and photos of modifications owners have made to their boats. As for how much material you'd need to recover your cushions I suppose you could measure them and estimate how much will be needed to do the job. Enjoy the boat!

Mike, thanks a lot. I just took a look at the 28 pictures. I'll learn my way around this website yet! My wife and I will be doing inland sailing(E.Tenn.) and are both very excited to get our boat in the water and start having some fun. I guess what attracted us to the 28 was why they were so scussful in the first place, interior room, beam. diesel, whell steering, etc. Hopefully she'll be the perfect boat for our needs for at least a few years to come. Again, thanks max

1984 O'Day 28 Bath, NC
Hey Maxx, I recently sold my Catalina and bought a 1984 28 myself. Its really a nice boat and best of all the wife loves it. I found one of the few shoal draft models that draws 3'8" which is perfect for the shallow waters of the Pamlico Sound area here in eastern NC.

Hey Tom, good looking boat! We're really excited about our new boat but havn't had time to sail it yet. Went out once with the previous owner but drifted rather than sailed. Bought her in Nashville and had her moved to Watts Bar lake in E. Tenn where the bottom is getting done. Once it's done, then a 45 mile cruise up Watts Bar and the Tennessee river to Ft. Loudan lake. E. Tenn. is not the world's best sailing grounds but it's home waters for us. Unfortuntely, we currently live in N. Ky. about 3.5 hours away. Please share any o 28 info, knowledge etc. and I'll try to do the same. What kind of Catalina did you have?? Thanks, max

Oday 28 Lexington, Ky
Welcome to the world of the O'Day 28. I moved up from a Catalina 270 and am enjoying the O'Day very much. Mine is a 79 model so older and not as fancy as yours. I sail at Cave Run Lake and you are welcome to join me for a day sail if the trip to Knoxville gets to be too much.
