260 or 270?
The Hunter 270 was actually introduced as the Hunter 260 wing keel two years ago at the Annapolis Boat Show. Instead of water ballast, you have a wing keel. The layout is essentially the same except for a few items. With the wing keel, you can add a 9 hp Yanmar inboard diesel. Also, you can get a shower in the head as the water can drain into the bilge area underneath the main salon floor. you can add a marine head on both the 260 and the 270. The big appreciable difference is the steps into the cabin if you have the inboard diesel option added to the boat. As for the table, you can lower it down to the seat area to make a berth there too since you do not have a centerboard trunk housing as seen on the 260 preventing you from doing that. If you are planning to leave the boat in the water without trailering, a 270 keel boat is a good choice but you will need to remember that this boat will draw 31/2 feet permanently. Happy sailing
