New 25 Cherubini owner

Well I just brought my 25 home. Interesting mods on the boat pushed me over the edge to buy.
She has a Yanmar 10 horse diesel inboard installed along with a wheel steering mod. The other thing was it has a bolbus keel mod that I though was cool.
I'm going to have to rebuild the galley area due to the engine mod, but I don't think that will be all that bad.
What I do need is a forward hatch for this 1978 boat. It is a square hatch so it should not be all that hard to come by.
Photos coming once I get her stable and take inventory of what is aboard.

Good looking! Welcome aboard. How do you feel about the wheel steering? My cockpit is a little cramped in my '83 with tiller steering. that's my only complaint about the boat.

I don't know yet. She won't be in the water for awhile. Seems OK. Have to step on the seats to get around it, but we will have to see.

Db421, do you have the tube spreaders on your mast? Mine are missing and I need to know how long they are on the Kenyon mast. I think that was the factory mast if I'm not mistaken.

Congrats on your purchase. I am renovating a H30. I can't help on the spreaders but just want to let you know of the store right here on SBO. I have bought many direct replacement items here for my boat. I didn't see spreaders listed though. But you may contact Phil, he may know a source or maybe the size you need to make your own. My spreader tips have hard plastic cones with a slot for the cable. It's then retained by a few wraps of stainless lockwire to keep it in the slot.

Btw, you will find lots of good info here on the H25 if you search for author "Diana of Burlington". He is no longer on the forum but he is restoring an H25 too. His name is John Cherubini Jr. ......the son of the designer.

Well I got to play with her a bit today. I found all of the standing rigging in a box!!!! Still need the spreaders though. The batteries are taking a charge and all the interior lights work.
Bad news is something is locked up in the engine. It will turn 3/4 of a rotation and hits something solid. I think it is a stuck valve.

Yup, it was a stuck valve. All better now. So far I have been able to get everything to work except one battery. I think that one has given it's all.

looks good. Mine is a 30ft cheribini 79 model coastal cruiser with a 10hp yanmar also, just got it at end of last year am going up to n.c. next month to work on it get it ready to sail to Edisto s.c.

I found a guy parting out a 1986 25 and I think I have the hatch, teak hand rails and sliding hatch tracks as well as the entire galley if I want it. Could get the spreaders too. Fingers crossed

Ended up having to replace both batteries as they didn't have the umph to spin the engine over unless the compression levers are up. I was hoping they would make it but sitting dead for 8 years it was a bit of a stretch!!!! LOL. Going to get as many parts as I can off the other boat tomorrow!!!!

Getting closer to ready. Ran the engine for a bit and she is running well. Mounted the Ritchie navigator compass on the pedestal, disassembled all the winches and cleaned. Ran some of the running rigging and attached the boom to the mast.

Also ordered some clevis pins so I should be able to try for a Mast raise next weekend. Still have tomorrow to play some more. May try and tackle the hole in the hull.

Glad your up and running! I have been waiting to get back to mine and get her ready but spring has sprung! So next month will be devoted to getting right and getting on the Pemlico sound
