Curious questions: Where is the best place to buy things for the Hunter 240 boat? I am interested in screen enclosures for the hatches and campanionway. Also, I do not like the way the Jib sheets are handled, any ideas on better locking for the sheets? I have to take both hands off the teller to lock the sheet especially on the Port side. Is a there a locking wench that fits in the current wench location or on the current wench? Thanks, Capt_Woody

what is there now?

What is there now for cleating your sheets? It may be that "Winchers" could solve your problem.

Chandlery

Woody - Chandlery on this website has screens, covers and whatnots for the 240. The jib cleats on the boat are a disaster. You can change the cleats, which means putting bases underneath them (to get them at the right hight) or you can buy self-tailing winches for.. I dunno... a thousand bucks? I bought "Winchers" at West Marine - rubber doughnuts that fit over the winches. about $40 - they work great. The 240 is a lot of fun. Good luck and enjoy yourself.

Check Photo Forum

Check Mark Kissels article in the Photo Forum, he has a nice solution. If your boat already is equipped with camcleats you just have to make two pieces from teak or plastic to elevate the camcleats - need no extra reinforcement.

when I had a 240

I replaced the clam cleats with Ronstan camcleats with fairleads. Made an adapter plate from 1/4" stainless so I could use the existing mounting holes. Worked much better than the original.

240 Improvements

Woody, I have a H260 and the ideas for many of the improvements I've made to my boat came from this forum. Screens and handling jibs single-handed are a couple of examples. Check this link: http://kobernus.com/hunter260/index.html Click on the "upgrades" button.
