New 23.5 owner curious about reefing

Any suggestions on the easiest, fastest method to reef the main on a 23.5? Thanks for any pointers

Reefing

Your boat has one set of reef points in thee mainsail with jiffy reefing on the boom. You should have an owner's manual that will explain this from the previous owner. If not, contact Hunter and request the owner's manual. If they do not have it, feel free to ask Greg in warranty to have Crazy Dave to send you the info as I maintain that book.

One to helm, one to hook the sail on the ramshorn and pull the jiffy reef line,and one to fasten the sail ties. It's a nightmare singlehanded! With a big mainsail on a tender boat, it's always best to reef early. Shaking out a reef is pretty easy compared to pulling one in. I've received lots of advice about reefing early and to never heel more than 15 degrees. This stuff is a piece of cake on paper.... just try to do it with gusty winds and rain in your face!KenS/V Wouff Hong

Reefing...

...is a little easier by yourself if you mark your main halyard at the proper height. Let the main halyard out to that point, go forward and hook the reefing strap on the horn, then back to the cockpit to haul in the jiffy reefing line. Then work on bundling the sail and securing.
