neutral or in gear

What is the best way to sail, I hear that neutral but stress on gear box etc but that in gear adds drag. I dont want to change props. I like the instant responce to reverse. I have been out on my 272 twice and have been waiting for it to be delivered to my slip for 3 weeks now (we had flooding on lake). Today is the day! I could hardly sleep last night. Now my problem is trying to find a way to keep my 222 which I have put in way too many hours fixing up. I would hate to sell it and see it not maintained.Jim

If I am in the mood to mess with it I make sure the shaft is turned so the prop lines up with the keel.
