I have had a netflix account for awhile and I finally got around to doing a search for sailing.

I had no idea they had so many videos for sailing. Some on instant view.

I watched The Annapolis Book of Seamanship Vol 1 Cruising Under Sail today on instant watch.

Very solid video. The rest of the 5 part series is available through DVD que.

I also watched Improve Your Sailing Skills on instant watch.

It was good, maybe not the level of John Rousmaniere's series, but well worth watching.

There are also a couple on instant watch that are not as highly rated as the two above.

I also added these others to my DVD que along with the rest of The Annapolis Book of Seamanship series.... and there are more... so much more.

I have also watched a few movies that sailing was the back drop. We stream these movies on our 56" HDTV, so it is the best $9 a month I spend. The wife and kid wear it out also. We also stream it on our laptop when traveling. If you have Netflix do a search on "Sailing" on line and add the ones you want to instant view or DVD que.

I, too, watched those same DVDs; however, it has been about 4 years since I watched them. It is a shame that Netflix doesn't have anything better after all this time.

My wife found a book on cruising the Maine Coast but didn't want to drop $65 plus shipping to buy it. Ten minutes later, I ordered the same book, used but in great condition, signed by the authors, for $13 plus $3 shipping off Amazon.com. Maybe the same applies to sailing movies. I think I'll check.

"Honey! Where's the debit card?"

Received Sailing with Confidence. Good video, had a section on sailing in heavy conditions and flying a spinnaker. The video was filmed at the school that teaches naval cadets and was a good teaching video.

I agree the Netflix streaming is a great deal. I have watched a number of movies and have gone back a few times to see "Deep Water" the story about Donald Crowhurst and the first round the world race.

Its interesting to see the differences between the 1960's and today and the equipment they took - It makes Robin Knox Johnston's achievements even more remarkable.

Thanks for the post.

I watched Deep Water. I must say, the interview style they used almost killed an amazing story. My wife could not take it anymore and abandoned ship halfway through it. It was great what the winner did with the prize money. Even though Morning Light was a reality type experience, I really enjoyed it and was moved by the dedication these kids had for a year.
