I consider posting pictures of private property with intent to shame are unacceptable
Not really ....................
@SailingLoto presents an interesting observation in how many people treat expensive boats. I really don't believe there is such a thing as an inexpensive boat.
I would note that in both cases, there is a well maintained powerboat at the same dock. The first is a jetski that, apparently, is important enough to get a nice clean cover, the second has got to be way too expensive to allow any dirt to settle on it, also with a cover.
I have been in my present marina for 20 years. Every year I see an influx of brand new, out of the box, power and sail boats, begin their journey towards becoming desolate wrecks. Usually at the end of 10 years they're starting to look pretty rough and they're sold off. The most common are large power boats over 40'. They have rarely been washed, NEVER been waxed, and I'd hate to see what shape the engines are in. By the smoke alone, I can guess. And, the expensive covers are in tatters.
Me ? I have a little 31 footer (actually quite big back in its day) and I take care of it from stem to stern, inside and out. Why ? Because I love boats and I love boating. I will sell her for next to nothing, (to the right boat lover, dumbasses need not apply) when I can no longer maintain her as it would break my heart to see her deteriorate. She's served me well and I will do my best to take care of her to the end. If possible, I will keep an eye on her as we both continue to age. Maybe even a clause in the sales contract for one ride per year.
Posting pictures or otherwise identifying would be considered “shaming” IMHO.
As far as shaming goes .................. how can you shame someone when none of us have a clue as to who owns it and in what state/province ? These boats are the essence of anonymity.
It is to cast stones of shame at the shameless boat owners who ugly up the boating world with their shamelessness. Shame on them!
If you have two shames together does it work out to a compliment ? Sort of like a double negative in English composition ?
