Most big lofts

John - The Daysailer is a popular class. You may find somthing used to fit it from Bacon and Associates in Anapolis. Failing that, any of the major lofts will have a pattern to fit the one desing spec. Justin - O'day Owners' Web

Have a question

John, Sorry, I can't tell you where you can get a mail sail, but you may be able to get a result by posting a want ad on ebay. I have had good luck with that. That being offered, would you mind looking at my question about 17 footers, which is posted higher on the list, just before yours and render any advise/info you see fit about this O'Day? Thanks and good luck! Bob Smart

extra mail sail

Hi, I bought a new set of sails 2 years ago from 'Quantum' through a sailmaker here in Port Washington. Then I happen to get an other set from a friend , now I have the old one and yet another good set. But I won't be around in June. Where are you?

Another possible source

A friend came across a company called the Sail Warehouse (www.thesailwarehouse.com). I have not purchased anything from them and thus can't vouch for their products. However, they do have a lot of O'Day boats listed as being in stock. They also have a used sail inventory.

yellow pages - sail loft, sail maker

You might be able to locate a nearby sailmaker using the phone book. If not, do a quick search online and you will find plenty of sail makers. The measurements to make a sail for any production boat should be easy for a sailmaker to look up in a database, so they just need to find the numbers, cut the material, and sew. I would also highly warn against buying used sails from untrusted sources. You simply cannot tell the condition of the sails from an online ad. Old blown out sails will give you less speed, less power, and more heeling. New sails, trimmed properly, will give you less heeling and more speed than the old things. No matter how much of a beginner you are, one summer on the water will give you experience enough to where good sails will matter. A sail is not exactly cheap to purchase, but good sails are worth the money. Brian
