Hunter 255 Hunter 255 Lake Jacomo
Hi, I just bought a Hunter 255 1985 and need to fix a few things and am having trouble finding them. I need an original stanchion bracket for my life line and need to do something about the funky ladder on the back so my wife can get back in the boat after swimming.
Any help would be appreciated

Thanks in advance

OK for what it's worth I fixed my ladder still need the stansion bracket, probably just going to get it welded. I do need a foreward replacement hatch as mine has a broken frame and I need either a new handle for my orginal dual halyard clutch or a new used double rope clutch.

thanks in advance

The forward hatch was made by Gray Industries and now they are owned by Bomar, which is a Pomanette company out of Florida. Need to know what brand (or see a photo of) the rope clutch is before I can suggest a source for a replacement handle.
A machine shop should be able to tig weld your stanchion, but if you are looking for a replacement, contact Garhauer, who will make you up one from scratch if need be (they don't already have it in stock).

I had a couple stanchion brackets broken on a 25.5 that I had and I purchased a small piece of alluminum tubing on ebay. I think it was 2 1/2" X 1 1/2" alluminum tubing (better measure one of your other ones, as I am only guessing on size) and I only paid about $10 since it was a scrap piece. Take it to a machine shop with one of the other stanchions that you take off and ask them to cut it and drill the holes to match. Quick and easy fix.

Good Luck

One place I would start is with the customer service at Hunter and specific ally address what you need. they keep all kinds of information as to mfg and so forth. I would start my search with an easy email to them regarding the ladder and stanchion.

As for stanchionsl, never use aluminum as it is a soft metal and easilly will bend. Stick with stainless steel. I have yet to see any mfg. use aluminum stanchions. In a sever blow or storm and you had to grab onto to one made of aluminum, it will bend and over you will go like a friend of mine once did.
