Just bought a 77 Catalina 22, without a trailer. Now I need to get it home. I have a usable Macgregor trailer for a 95 26 foot water ballast boat. Trip is about 1,000 miles.
Specs on trailer 2700 lb capacity, Single axle 14” tires.
Questions are:
1.Will the keel fit if I raise the bunks up 12 ins. ?
2. Should the keel rest on rollers, be cranked up, or some where in between?
3. How long is the keel?
4. The sailboat data says the draft is 2 feet keel up, but what is the distance to allow from top of bunks to bottom of keel?
5. The pics I see of a factory trailer have a wedge shaped keel support toward the bow end, what other support is needed.
6. Should I just forget modifying the mac trailer and start over?
Picture is of the mac trailer.
