We are somewhat new to sailing (and boating for that matter)... :)

The centering clamp of the furler broke last year at the end of the sailing season. We are trying to reorder, but don't know the model.
Does anyone know what model went on a 1993 40.5 Hunter Legend??

What is a furler centering clamp? What make of furler you have? Pictures? :)

From what we can tell, the furler make is Hood.

Not sure if this picture will help, but what we are looking for is part #18, at the bottom (a two part plastic clamp).

Re: hood furler

We went to that site (it's where I got the picture from).

Our problem is "what model went on a 1993 40.5 Hunter Legend?" ..

We can't seem to get the proper sizing..

Re: try this

I had to get repair parts for a much smaller Harken furler, from about 1993 vintage. I called Harken and they worked with me to identify the specific model, so I could order the correct items from their online dealers. I imagine Hood would do the same.

I don't know if every 40.5 Legend came with the same standard furler - is it possible yours may have been added by a previous owner?

the Hood-Pompanette site says to measure the diameter of the aluminum extrusion, shows a cross-reference based on that diameter which will provide the model #, if it is a Hood Furler. My Hood furler has the model # on the top of the furler drum assy. Yours is probably an 800 or 900 series.

It's obvious that the man has a Hood furler so the reference to Harken is hardly helpful. Pompanette handles Hood furlers. I believe they used the Hood 975 for the Hunter Legend 40.5.

My reference to Harken was only intended to convey that one of the furler manufacturers was more than happy to help identify model number and needed parts numbers, so the suggestion was that Hood would likely be just as helpful - thus, to be sure, why not call Hood? It was not intended to imply anything about Harken parts being related to Hood parts.

I have a 1995 Hunter 40.5 and yes, the furler is a Series 975 from Pompanette. The part you are looking at is called a split bushing or tack fitting. Call Marty Barnett at Hood Customer Service 813-885-2182. I dealt with her last spring when I needed a repair kit for my furler and she was fabulous to work with. Good Luck!
