Need to replace fixed portlights on H-260

Last fall I tried to back my H-260 into our boat slip with gusting 20 knot crosswinds in the dark singlehanded. I do not recommend that procedure. Anyway, I tangled with a neighboring bow anchor and lost the fight. I broke one and scratched up the second of the two small fixed portlights on the port side, (duct tape is a must-have item for some remedies on a boat). Hunter sold me some new ones (and a tube of Dow 739) and now I need instructions on how to replace them properly so they don't leak. Hunter had no instructions and suggested that I check the HOW. I checked the archives but could not find out how to best remove the old ones, clean off old sealer, add new sealer and install the new ones. I guess that someone has been there and done that and could help me out. Your experiences are greatly appreciated.Potomac Pat

Preperation!

As you would know Pat preperation is the key.I put a post on a while ago about how I replaced four windows on one of our other yachts. Used sicaflex however made sure it was for the paricular type of glass (not mineral).Cleaned and etched, primed and applied sica using tiny circles of rubber stuck on to surface of the wndow so that the sica is an even thickness and applied the windows holding in place for 24 hours with masking tape. Lots of masking tape around the bits that you don't want the sica.Perfect result but a lot of messing around.
