just heard the winds are gusting to 29 kn. have you tried contacting this fellow? Lt. cmdr. Eric Denley USCG... #304-733-0198 ext. 2103. looking on their logs, they had an oil barge boomed off and were allowing traffic to pass. jb
we will call him in am when we leave--is good to know the oil is still offshore except in the pointy end of louseyanny----seems , if winds stay same as now that cat island will again be destroyed--first katrina now the bp and usa govt..lol....hopefully we wont be dragging a black yukky trail as we progress--will keep posted as we hear and learn.....thankyou!!!

REAL NEWS!!!!! for a change lol.....the rigolets hasnt been actually boomed as originally reported--wooohoo---is scheduled for later this week!!! there is no oil as yet inside th ebarrier islands of the mississsippi sound!!! this boat will make it home to her ownbed!!!!!! wooooohoooo!!!! now if the homeless insecurity folks would allow the shrimpers and fishers to assist with the booming of the mayhem .......

Not trying to turn this into a political thread...however...as they said the Nero fiddled while Rome burned...I think history will say that someone took a hike in the NC mountains as the slick got bigger!

we are back in slidell!!!!! ther eis no oil yet inside the barrier islands--whew--booms are in place and ready for deployment at the bridge where the old fort is....i donot remember which bridge that is--the first one after rr bridge at rigolets.....and phillip is asleep and snoring--we got here at 1030 this am.......nonstop run from wolf bay--took about 24 hours. wasnt bad-just very very busy with tugsntows---barges everywhere!! some not even in icw!!!!--that was funny, as his buddies were calling occasionally to see if he had fallen asleep at the helm---he was a mile out of the icw and we found him in front of us...LOL..when he finally answered he said he just got distracted for a minuet....lol----he wasnt lost--we found him--watched also as he made his way nack to icw...LOL...goood thing was daylight!!..
