i have a 1989 catalina 25 tr with wing keel and an e z loader trailer that i am thinking about selling.the boat and trailer are both in very good condition.for head sails i have a jib and genoa. all lines are led to the cockpit. she has self tailing winches,a bimini, sunbrella covers for everything,a 9.9 nissan motor, coleman stove, stereo, depth finder,solar panel,cabin cover for over nighting, and all is in very good condition. the boat and trailer need nothing. sail away condition. just don`t know how to price it. i am going to buy a bigger boat is the reason for selling.

Go to "Yachtworld.com" Type in your boat in the custom search page. Price your boat based on the average of those for sale now.
Kelly Blue book.com also lists average boat values. Add at least $1,500 for a good trailer & extra $500 for a good 4 stroke newer outboard motor. Any sailboat with a trailer is worth more & easier to sell as it can easily be transported. It also saves a ton of money in storage & slip fees, as it can be parked in the backyard for the winter. It should be easy to sell.
I have been looking for the last couple months and just bought a 22, but I looked at a number of 25s. I do recommend yachtworld.com as well as Craigslist.org in your area. There are a number of them out there, but an 89 in great shape is a treat. If yours is in great shape it should be worth around 10,000. You can find them anywhere from around 8,000-12,000. Good luck.
I live in the NE corner of Washington State and we have a high number of trailer sailer boats due to all our lakes. A boat in the condition that yours is in would bring $8,000 to $10,000 in season. Less in winter.
On the coast in salt water the value would be less due to size.
Without the trailer it would be a hard sell anytime.

I would search craigslist ads within 200 miles for same and similar boats, and try to average your price based on what you see. Kelly and NADA values come from dealers who can afford to sit on them indefinitely, and are not realistic of what private sellers should expect. Private sales will often be somewhere between average retail and trade in.
Kind of depends on how fast you want to sell. Lower prices bring faster sales. Regardless of all other factors, demand takes priority. Not too many boat buyers around heading into Christmas at almost any price. Come spring you could get up to 50% more, and tons more buyers. And as in everything else, condition, condition, condition..
