The local LPG guy won't refill my gas bottle because it doesn't have an Overfill Protection Device. No problem, I'll get a replacement bottle. So I start searching the internet for a replacement bottle that will fit in my 2000 h310's LPG locker and discover that replacing the "unique" size bottle may be more difficult than expected. Does anyone know of a source for an LPG bottle that will fit in my h310's lazarette lpg locker. The dimensions of the bottle I am trying to replace are Dia=9", Hgt=11" 10.5 lb. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

My h336 has the same one. They are not "unique" but West Marine, in its dunderhead wisdom, does not carry that size. Neither does sailnet.com Try www.propaneshop.com. To help you search, remember that the LPG industry does not call them "tanks." They are "cylinders." After I figured that out, it was easy. I searched all over the internet to find the same one, ordered it and paid shipping, only to walk into the parts department at my own marina to see 4 of them sitting on the floor. Doh! close to the right size

I don't know if this will help or not, camping world has a similar size tank. The wife has a popup trailer and we have found that many of the parts will cross over so to speak. I hope this helps, if not, nothing ventured, nothing gained. Good luck. J.R.

Change the Valve

You can buy a replacement valve for about $28. Make sure the tank is empty. Then unscrew the old valve and screw in the new one. Saved me about $120 on the purchase of a new tank for my H376.

Not required...

It is my understanding that the small cylinders carried on our boats are under the manimum size that are required to have the OPD. If that is the only reason that you are getting a new tank, then you might think again. Steve

Problem is one of IQ...

The biggest problem here is that most people who fill propane look at one thing...the nozzle. If it is circular, they won't fill it. If it is triangular with an OPD, they will fill it. I have the same situation with my h29.5 (though I still have gas in the cylinder and one in reserve)...I will probably try to find the fitting that converts the cylinder. I still need to replace the OPD on my home grill. I don't want to end up with a junk yard full of propane cylinders.

Thanks for the tips!

I'll try the new bottle route to avoid the hassle at the pump. I lose 5.5# by switching to the new bottles though. My original bottle held 10.5#, newer is only 5#. I don't think I'll get very far arguing the finer points of the law with the gas man. ;-)
