Need tip for a smelly problem

hi folks
I wrote a bit about this a couple days ago. I found I have black water occasionally bubbling or flowing back into the head only after I pump it and the lever is set in the dry bowl position. I confirmed all the venting is clear and even left off the tank cleanout cap. No change! So I am suspecting the joker. Here's where I need the tip; is there a proven disassembly method that will prevent a niagra falls of back flowing sewage when I remove and quickly replace the joker? Unfortunately I am not near a pump out Station. Thanks for your advice

First get Peggy's book from the store here. Then change your joker valve - the book will tell you how. Be sure and run lots of water thru the head first and it won't be too icky

Jim n Kathy, that is the scientific technical term for anything on Les's boat associated with the head.

But really... Peggy's book and or search the forum under plumbing. Your problem or one very similar (green goo, brown water...) has occurred over the years to many of us and Peggy has solved nearly every one. ;)

Update from SamiDog; job done! Hands washed! Beer opened and the joker has been replacd. Went though a little disinfectant and smell good spray, but it's all good now. Your tip on pumping plenty of raw water thru first was helpful. As always here on this forum...thanks for the great help!
