Why can't you just buy and install a replacement tiller? Just take the old one with you to the marine supply and match the curve. One time in Guatamala my C-29 tiller broke, so I anchored, went ashore, and cut a likely looking branch off some jungle tree. Shaved it down a bit, carved the aft end to fit the rudder head jaws, drilled for the bolts, and that was that. That was 16 years ago and I still have it. PHM -----------------
