This site is totally awesome. I have been using it for years and a better collection of information simply cannot be found.
That being said, it can be tedious to sift through it all.

Any tips to search this massive pile of data would be greatly appreciated.

Usually one or two key search words will get you to the info that you need. It most always seems to work for me. Sometimes, when the searched info comes up overwhelming, fine tuning the search words will narrow the scope. It would help if you could provide some examples where your search result was so massive that you felt frustrated, or overwhelmed.

P.S. Salem, OR, MA?

Are you using the advanced search option?

You can also try the Boolean operators, and, or, not ( + | -)

When searching the forums, use Advanced Search. The search bar at the top uses the built-in forum search which is pretty weak. Advanced gives you much more control of where and what you search for.

Also remember that the more words you use the fewer results you'll get. So start with one or two keywords then add more to narrow the results.

And if you need to search the entire site (forums, downloads, boat reviews, all of it), go to Google and enter this (where [keyword] is the search term):

[keyword] site:sailboatowners.com

Good luck!
