I recently bought my Hunter Cherubini(HC)33 and I am doing some extensive renovations. I have decided to replace the old continuous line furler (original). Has anyone out there upgraded/replaced their furler? What did you buy and where? Any words of wisdom or lessons learned? I am told you can install a new furler without stepping the mast............Thanks

Hood makes a kit that upgrades to a single-line drum. Got to pompanette.com and click on Hood systems and check it out. You can also order replacement p[arts and bearings there.

Okiman, We had a Hood Seafurl on our 1981 H33 when we bought it two years ago. It was the "early" model and not upgradable. If you don't have a turnbuckle at the bottom of the headstay you may have the same one. We had to replace the headstay since the furling unit has the bottom terminal built into it. We installed a CDI FF7 and have beed happy with it(after trying to use the old Hood unit, hanks were looking real good). Email me at <n624ma@charter.net> if you need any more info.

Okiman About 6 months ago I replaced an inoperative Profurl furler on my H-33 1980 with the model offered by SpinTec. I could not be more pleased. The design of the unit is exceptional, materials are best quality, it is extremely robust and was not expensive.(Believe it was $1300 including fittings.) Best of all it performs well. I installed it myself following their directions. The technical support from the company is good. Take a look for yourself at the site (http://www.spin-tec.com/). I have no interest other than as a satisfied user. I did not have to modify my forestay. Have pictures and can answer questions at hgw@bellsouth.net. Hope this helps. Henry
