To anyone with advice, I own a Venture 22 and am in the process of restoring it. I have to reglass the swing keel and would appreciate any tips or pointers on the process (i.e the best way to apply the resin and fiberglass, do I have to be concerned weight). I have it stripped down to the iron and I am just about ready to start reglassing. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Dave

Rust

Your biggest enemy is rust. I believe the consensus is, not if you will get rust, but how long will it take. I did mine three years ago, mainly because it was badly pitted. I had mine sandblasted and then I immediately primed it to prevent rust. I don't seem to have any visible rust, but I bet it is under there. I will let others comment on the glassing procedure, but I can't see how weight is an issue.

Dave, here's a web site of someone who's done it on a 22ft.macgregor,with pictures.Go to search.Type in "Link for owners of macgregor sailboats" Then drop to #2 "Macgregor sailing page".When the site comes up,drop down to "Brian Gilbert's V222 Restoration".He'll tell you how he did things and have pictures that show you through it.Hope this helps.
