A word on "restoring to original"...
Nobody buys a 19th century house and restores IT to original specs and condition...they keep the framework and the best of the original, but they don't keep the outhouse--they install current state of the art indoor plumbing...they don't restore gas lighting, they install state of the art wiring and electrical fixtures...they put every modern convenience in the kitchen and every place else in the house. There's only one reason to restore any boat to its original condition and specs: it's famous, and it's gonna be a museum. A LOT has changed since 1974, and What you REALLY want is enough information to jump off from to start with your hull and--within the limits of your budget--fit, equip, and update your 1974 hull to be a 2001 boat. I did it with a 1980 boat...bought her in '96....by the time I got through with her, not much was left that predated '96 except her hull. You're in a wonderful position to seize the opportunity to turn a classic hull design into a state of the art contemporary boat. And it's the only way to go!
