My 79 H30 has a ShurFlo 220-033 pump for the freshwater system. Pump doesn't anymore. I can't find any info on it so don't know what PSI and GMP it is. It is 12v of course. Any info or recommendations? FW system consists of 2 sinks and shower head.

If you look around the manufacturer's websites, I think you'll find how they gauge what size pump you need. I think it's by the number of faucets there are onboard and what they're used for. I replaced mine when it went out and then afterwards, ended up adding an accumulator tank. Lessons learned so far includes; I should have gotten a bigger accumulator, and I should have mounted the pump on rubber. The pump is screwed down to some fiberglass under the sink using the mounting hardware provided, and it's loud. Hope that helps. Kb

KB - what was your advantage in adding an accumulator tank? My home has one for the well, but not my boat. Interesting. What size tank did you end up with?

just lets the pump cycle less. If all you need is a paper towel wetted the pump may not cycle at all. Had one on my 37.5 legend and i did not see the need. 2 showers and three sinks plus a stern wash down station. 3.4 GPM was fine unless you are taking a shower, washing dishes, brushing your teeth and somebody needs to wash off on the swim platform.

The sureflow are pretty reliable. I've brought mine back to life 4 times now. Pull the pressure head and clean the three "mushroom valves" and you should be fine.

I agree with Bill R. When I pump water without an accumulator, the pump cycles on and off really quickly causing the volt and amp meters, and lights to flicker wildly. I thought I'd add an accumulator and turn a bunch of small bursts of pumping action, into one longer one. Well, the one I have is so small that I might be getting one for two. On a friend's boat, the pump ran for about 15 to 20 seconds, was quiet, electrical draw was smooth, and kept great water pressure at all of the faucets. One bad thing about accumulators, if they start leaking as they did on my friend's boat, you end up loosing lots of water trying to get a little bit at the end. Ah, the pros and cons. Me personally, I think I'll look for a bigger one sometime soon, and find a better way to mount it so it's not heard.

Not to quite I hope.... You will know what mean when you wake up one morning while days away from any available fresh water sources to find your fresh water supply gone. Not only that the pump is burnt up from running all night.

When my very old ShurFlo water pump finally gave out two years ago. I replaced it with a new 3.0 gpm ShurFlo Aqua King pump and a ShurFlo accumulator tank. The chart in the WM catalog recommends that size for 1-2 fixtures. I just have the galley & lav sinks right now. If I restore the shower, it will be the lav-shower combo faucet, so the 1-2 fixture capacity works either way. I really like the accumulator tank. The pump does not cycle on-off nearly as much.

Accumulator vs. IC-type Pumps

Does anyone have experience with the newer IC (Intelligent Control) pumps? They say no accumulator tank is needed with these, but I'm wondering 1) how reliable they are and 2) if they cycle on/off more or less than the traditional pumps requiring accumulator tanks.

Price being a big consideration, installed a Shurflo 3gpm like Dalliance has in his H30 yesterday, and it works wonderfully. Very quiet - hard to hear it running when the heater fan is blowing. Like the old one it just runs continually with the faucets open - no cycling, so no need for an accumulator. I'm surprised how much flow and pressure there is. Apparently the old unit was was either undersized or not feeling well when I bought the boat. - thanks for the recommendations all.
