We just bought a 2001 Hunter 320. I would like to replace the Head sail with a 130 % Genoa. We need to mount Blocks further aft. Did anyone made an attempt to do this? Is there a standard 130% Genoa available for the 320? Thank you for your help.
Save your money for a good 110 and an asymmetrical spinnaker. Overlapping headsails on the newer Hunters are a poor choice for your hard earned money. For going to weather a well designed 110 is going to give you the best performance. For off wind sailing an A kite is your best bet.
SimiSimo, a 130 will touch the spreader. You probably won't be able to trim it probably even if you extend the genny track aft. One possible option is to extend the foot down.
The newer Hunters with the fractional rigs derive their power under sail from the mainsail rather than the jib. Adding a larger Genoa/jib might only improve performance slightly but will be harder to handle and trim properly. Post your question on one of the expert forums and see if you can get any better advice.
