Please help! I have tried searching archives, and printed the 222 manual (under "more fun"), but nowhere can I find the information I need. Our rigging looks fine (not frayed or rusted) but needs help. I think the fore and aft stays are the right length, but the shrouds are too long and loose, turnbuckles tightened all the way. Even if we just shorten the shrouds, I need to know the right length. If I can talk my husband into it, replacement is my choice...still need the factory specs on the standing rigging before we can proceed...( Newbies we are, just bought her as "ready to sail", but she needs some work, bottom paint, tuning, and TLC)Thanks MB

Call Rudy Nickerson

I replaced the standing rigging on my 222 this year since mine (1985) was pretty stretched out. Rudy Nickerson at D & R Marine knew all the specs. There were apparently two alternative masts that went with the 222, and the measurements for the standing rigging depend on which mast you have. I got the new rigging within a week and it has made all the difference in getting the rig tuned correctly. Rudy's number is 508-644-3001, and the web site is: www.odaysailboats.com. I find that calling is the best approach. Good luck. Dave

Thank you Dave!

I will post any info I can find so others won't have to hunt for it too. MB

Loos tension

I know a fellow who has a Loos guage, and is willing to help us tune our rigging when we finally get our boat back into the water. Is there a standard tension # to shoot for on the standing rigging? Would anybody have these specs? Am I just obsessing too much? ;) MB

Got wrong size from D & R

I ordered a new forstay and backstay for my 1984 222 from Rudy at D & R. I specifically told Rudy that I had a Damco Mast. Not only did he send the stays that were the wrong size(too long),I had to pay to ship them back to him and he forgot to include a boom rest on the backstay, and even he though he promissed he never sent me that boom rest. So beware D&R !
