I recently bought the H27 and need to have it transported from the Dallas area to the Texas Gulf coast. I am looking for transporter recommendations or options for purchasing a trailer that will handle this boat. It has the 3.5' draft.

Thanks,
Mike

One place to get quotes is USHIP.com. You post details and haulers respond with a quote. You aren't obligated to anyone but that will help fill in some info. Be ready they'll all over. I needed a big steel cradle moved 400 miles and it varied by over a thousand dollars. Boats are a wider spread. Hopefully you can get someone going home if times are flexible. Flexibility saves $. Can't help on the trailer but this will get you started. SC

Good advise from Sailcruiser. If you are flexible on your ship date you can sometimes save some bucks if the shipper can double up the trip by finding a load to bring back near where you are drooping of. That way you don't have a deadhead fee.

I shipped my Cal 27 from St Louis to Punta Gorda FL 13 years ago and luckily the shipping company was right down the road from my destination. They loaded the boat on to a truck returning empty from the Great Lakes. I had to wait an extra week but saved about 30%. The boat arrived within 10 minutes for their estimated time. Sadly they are no longer in business.

Thanks for the info. I can be flexible because the slip is paid through February.

Recently shipped a H31 from Canyon Lake to Kemah area. Send me a separate email and I can provide names of 2 good truckers working this area (jmce1587@entouch.net). As the above posts stated if your flexible on shipping time frame, you can save a few bucks. All in costs for me was about $1700 which included trucking, marina services both ends and the the cost to take it off the truck at the arrival marina and crane costs to restep the mast. Make sure whoever you use has insurance and requesta copy of their certificate. Also, when shipping from inland lakes, check out the marinas to determine if they have crane capacity to remove mast or as a minimum a good gin pole to use for lifting mast. Canyon lake had no cranes unless i wanted to pay to have one sent from San Antonio. had to use gin pole in the marina and it was a bit dicey. Finally, before you re-step the mast, check for signs of leakage around mast step. You might want to reseal at this time. Good luck.
