We have a boat that was salvaged after a sinking. Most things are ok but the refrig. unit blows the 15A auto fuse. I replaced the fan but there is a black plastic housed control box (holds the fuse) that feeds the compressor and fan. It has a few "faston" terminals (fan and temp sensor) and a 4 wire cable that plugs onto the compressor. We suspect the board inside this control box and/or the compressor is/are bad. Is there any way to tell which is bad? Also, are there any resources that will tell us the model/part # of either the control box or the compressor and where we can get replacements? Best regards, Dan

CONTROL MODULE

THE CONTROLE MODULE IS MOST LIKLEY SHORTED OUT AFTER GETTING WET. I WOULD LIKE YOU TO FIRST OHM OUT THE FOUR PINS ON THE COMPRESSOR. THE BOTTOM PIN IS COMMON, OHM OUT BOTTOM PIN TO RIGHT PIN =.2-.4 OHM, BOTTOM TO TOP =2.4-4.5 OHM, BOTTOM TO LEFT PIN = .2-.5 OHM. IF YOU GET THOSE NUMBERS THE COMPRESSOR SHOULD BE OK. THE REPLACEMENT MODULE IS A # AB3016 WAECO USA. CUSTOMER SERVICE 860-664-4911

Scot, I'm assuming that the ohm readings are...

taken with no power to the unit? Terry

Scot, I took the compressor ohm readings...

the correct way and they were as follows: First base was .3 then it dropped to .0. Second base was a solid 3.4. Third base was .3 then it dropped to .0. The unit starts right up after resting for awhile, then when it recycles the fan comes on, the compressor attempts to start, then a high frequency tone for a second or two, then the fan comes back on. If I shut the unit off for ten minutes it starts right up and runs until it cycles again. When the control module is unable to start the compressor under normal operating conditions, it will start if I thump the compressor dome with my fist a couple of times. We've talked on the phone a couple of times and you seem pretty sure it is the control module. Based on the above do you still think it is the module? Terry
